A Golf Classic was held in Bunclody Golf Club on Thursday & Friday, the 27th & 28th of October as a fundraiser for the Senior Orchestra trip to America next February. We are very grateful to the school community and local areas for their wonderful support in providing teams and sponsorship. The event would not have been possible without the hard work, energy and commitment of so many people who were involved in the organisation for weeks in advance and those who worked during the two days. |

On the first occasion she scored 5 points of Wicklow’s 9 and was deservingly named Player of the Match. But that game finished in a draw and was replayed on Oct 9th. ROAD SAFETY SHUTTLE BUS LANDS IN FCJ
On Monday the 26th of September a Road Safety Shuttle Bus was set up in the front car park of the school. Over the next two days every student from 4th, 5th and 6th Year was given an opportunity to visit the bus and to experience the affect of a 360º roll in a car. The purpose of the visit was to increase student awareness of road safety issues such as stopping distances, reaction times and the need for being fully alert to all dangers while driving. The Transition Year Road Safety students also took on the responsibility of teaching road safety to all 1st Year classes. Some of their classes included walking debates, surveys, the “Safe Cross Code” and even a staging of a Road Safety ‘Deal or No Deal’. |

BEGINNING OF YEAR MASS
The students and staff of our school gathered in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Bunclody, on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 21st, for the Beginning of Year Mass. Rev. Ignacio Mikalonis, C.C. Kilmyshall, and former School Chaplain, Rev. Jim Doyle, C.C., concelebrated the Mass. There are many reasons why we go to the church as a school community each September. This year, the Mass marked the formal start to a new school year – a fresh start and a time of new beginnings. This was especially so on this historic occasion as we began school 150 years after the first FCJ Sisters arrived in Bunclody. But even more significant was the date, as September 21st marks the anniversary of the birth of Marie Madeleine d’Houët, the Foundress of the FCJ Order. |
